2026 Municipal Election Information
Published on February 2, 2026
Election qualifying concluded last week, and the Levy County Supervisor of Elections is announcing which municipalities and districts will and will not hold elections this year. Several municipalities and districts had the exact number of candidates needed to fill their open seats; therefore, no election will be held this year for the following jurisdictions: Cedar Key Water and Sewer District, City of Chiefland, Town of Otter Creek, City of Williston, and Town of Yankeetown.
The 2026 municipal election will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, with polls open from 7 am to 7 pm. Only residents whose registered residential address is located within the municipalities of Cedar Key or Inglis are eligible to vote in this election.
Supervisor of Elections Tammy Jones reminds voters that the voter registration deadline – also known as book closing – Monday, March 9, 2026. Eligible residents can register to vote or update their existing voter registration online at www.votelevy.gov or in person at the Supervisor of Elections Office.
“Municipal elections have historically seen lower voter turnout, but our office is committed to changing that trend,” said Supervisor Jones. “We are implementing outreach efforts to encourage more residents to participate and make their voices heard.”
In addition, voters who wish to receive a Vote-by-Mail ballot for the municipal election must submit a new request. All previous Vote-by-Mail requests expired after the 2024 election cycle, as required by Florida law. Requests can be made online at www.votelevy.gov, by phone, or in person.
This year marks the first time the Levy County Supervisor of Elections will conduct municipal elections. The office is dedicated to ensuring a smooth transparent, and voter-friendly process for all participants.
